Even if the audience wanted to relive the 90s box office clashes during the pooja season this year, the stars have decided not to risk it. Mammootty, Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi’s films were set to clash at the box office on September 29, but it seems that the Drishyam actor has pulled out of the race.

Director Vysakh’s investigative thriller Monster, which has Mohanlal essaying the role of an investigative officer named Lucky Singh, was to hit theatres during the pooja season. But with the festive time seeing several big films including Nivin Pauly’s Saturday Night joining the race, Monster has apparently been pushed to an October or November release.

Monster, which also has Lakshmi Manchu, Sudev Nair and Honey Rose, is scripted by Pulimurugan fame Udaykrishna. The film was initially meant to be an OTT release but after the post-production, the makers believed that the movie would also work in theatres.

In fact, director Vysakh, in an earlier interview with us, said, “Every twist in the film presents a mode of entertainment. Also, Monster is a movie that’s made for entertainment… I believe Monster will work both in theatres as well as OTTs because of the strength of its content. I am sure the audience will enjoy it wherever they see the film.”

Vysakh, whose films are known for mass appeal, also said that the film is also experimental in a way compared to previous ventures of the filmmaker and scriptwriter that include Madhuraraja and Pulimurugan.

Meanwhile, the makers of Mammootty’s Rorschach are set to release the trailer of the film and announce its release date on September 7. Nivin and Rosshan Andrrews, who previously worked together in Kayamkulam Kochunni, will also be releasing the trailer of their film, Saturday Night, and announcing its release date on September 5. Mei Hoom Moosa is set for a September 28 release.
