The team recently released a video from the first day of shoot of the movie, which also has Honey Rose and Sudev Nair in pivotal roles
The team of Mohanlal’s Monster released a video from the first day at the sets of Vysakh’s directorial. The pooja function of the film, which was held last year, was attended by its producer Antony Perumbavoor, scriptwriter Udaykrishna, Mohanlal, Vysakh, Honey Rose and Lakshmi Manchu, who will be making her Malayalam debut with the film.
The function had Mohanlal in his Sikh get-up as Lucky Singh and from the video, the actor can be seen meeting and greeting guests as well as his co-stars from the thriller, which wrapped up its shoot earlier this year.
In an interview earlier this month, director Vysakh talked about the genre of Monster, in which he teamed up with Mohanlal and Udaykrishna after their blockbuster Pulimurugan. “Every twist in the film presents a mode of entertainment. So, it wouldn’t be fair to break it down before the movie releases. On a broader perspective, it belongs to a thriller genre. Also, Monster is a movie that’s made for entertainment,” he said, adding that movie tackles subjects that haven’t been addressed before in Malayalam.
There were also reports that the film will be Malayalam’s first zombie thriller. Vysakh, however, had issued a clarification that this was false. Scriptwriter Udaykrishna too had told us that the film is different from his previous ‘mass’ entertainers and is more about its making than its characters or story.
Mohanlal too, last year, told us that he was excited about the film as it was something new and the second half of the movie is packed with unexpected twists to keep the audience on the edge-of-their seats. The movie also has Sudev Nair in an important role.
Meanwhile, it is also rumoured that Monster could be a direct-to-OTT release and that the makers are currently negotiating with streaming platforms. However, there has not been an official confirmation. Mohanlal’s 12th Man, which is directed by Jeethu Joseph, will be his next OTT release. The murder mystery is expected to release on Disney+ Hotstar in April.
