The makers of Mohanlal’s big-budget action-drama, helmed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, announced its release date with a stylish poster
A few days ago, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal promised an update on his upcoming and hugely-awaited film Malaikottai Vaaliban . And true to his word, the actor delivered and how! The makers of the Lijo Jose Pellissery director announced its release date with an epic poster, showing one of the many get-ups of Mohanlal’s character in the movie.
Malaikottai Vaaliban set for a Republic Day box office battle
Those who have followed Mohanlal’s career will know that one of biggest blockbusters – Narasimham – was released on January 26. With Malaikottai Vaaliban, which is billed as a ‘mass’ action-drama that will see the Malayalam superstar in one of his most intense roles ever as a wrestler, the team would be hoping the film not only emulates this success, but also becomes one of the highest grossing Malayalam films ever.
With the kind of hype the film has got going for it, not many other Malayalam movies would want to release on January 25, 2024 – Malaikottai Vaaliban’s release date. However, the Malayalam film industry has already proved that it has enough market for Hindi movies this year – with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathaan, in the list of top 6 highest-grossers in Kerala in 2023.
On January 25, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s Fighter will also be releasing in select theatres in the State. The makers of Malaikottai Vaaliban will be ensuring that the Malayalam movie gets the widest release possible in the South, but a pan-Indian success depends on the other releases slotted during the Republic Day long weekend.
Mohanlal to play a Sikh wrestler
If the first poster of the film, featuring Mohanlal’s character pulling the moon was not enough, the makers have now released another look of his Sikh wrestler from the movie, which is scripted by PS Rafeeque.
