Mohanlal confirmed plans are in place to release the trailer of his directorial debut Barroz soon
After investing over two years in his directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure, Mohanlal is all set to give the audience a good look at what the 3D children’s fantasy is about.
In a recent interview to a radio channel in Doha, the actor opened up about the status of the film, which revolves around a young girl and a 400-year-old ghost who guards Vasco D’Gama’s treasure till its rightful heir approaches him.
The actor said that the film’s entire shoot has been completed along with its editing. The team is currently busy with its special effects, which he explains requires extensive work as it is shot in 3D. The film also has a technically superlative sequence, for which the team is taking special care that it doesn’t make the audience feel uncomfortable as it’s shot in 3D.
On when the viewers can get the first glimpse of the film, Mohanlal said that plans are in place to release the movie’s trailer in Kerala along with James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, which is set to have a worldwide release on December 16. It’s unclear whether only the Malayalam version of the Hollywood movie, starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, will have the trailer or all the Indian language version will. Considering that Barroz has been planned to be released in several languages, the latter would also be possible.
The movie, which is written by My Dear Kuttichathan’s director Jijo Punnose, is touted to be the most expensive Malayalam film yet. Apart from Mohanlal, the movie also has Guru Somasundaram, Maya, Sara Vega, Tuhin Menon and Geethi Sangeetha in pivotal roles. Santosh Sivan has cranked the camera for the film, which has A Sreekar Prasad as its editor and Lydian Nadhaswaram as the composer. The movie was shot extensively in Navodaya Studios in Kochi with Goa, Bangkok and Chennai being the other major locations.
