Mohanlal and Priyadarshan, the Malayalam superstar and the senior filmmaker, teamed up for many iconic films over the last four decades. The duo, who have been best buddies since their college days, emerged as one of the best actor-director duos Malayalam cinema has ever produced. If the recent reports are to be believed, Priyadarshan is now all set to make a strong comeback to the Malayalam film industry with his 100th film. The untitled project will feature Mohanlal in the lead role.
Mohanlal to play the lead in Priyadarshan’s 100th film?
According to recent updates, the celebrated filmmaker is currently busy with the scripting of his highly anticipated 100th film. The movie, which is expected to mark yet another collaboration between Priyadarshan and Mohanlal, is touted to be a light-hearted comedy entertainer. In a recent chat with a leading Malayalam media outlet, the Kilukkam director confirmed that he is indeed planning to cast the Neru actor in his 100th film. Even though Priyadarshan refrained from revealing more details, the rumour mills suggest that the director might revive ‘Haram’ the long-delayed Mohanlal starrer for his 100th outing in cinema.

In that case, the upcoming project will also mark Mohanlal and Priyadarshan’s reunion after the massive debacle of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. The historical period drama, which was made the most expensive of Malayalam cinema, failed to impress the masses and ended up as a box office disaster. Even though later it was reported that the actor-director duo might team up again for a sports action drama, the untitled project was shelved in the budding stage itself due to undisclosed reasons.

Mohanlal-Priyadarshan films to stream on OTT
If you wish to revisit the iconic Malayalam films starring Mohanlal and directed by Priyadarshan, some of the duo’s best works are now available for streaming on Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium. The list includes the iconic romantic drama Thalavattam, Hello My Dear Wrong Number, Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu, Kaalapani Telugu version, Kadathanadan Ambadi, and Parayanum Vayya Parayathirikkanum Vayya.

Mohanlal played the role of Vinod, a psychiatric patient who loses his sanity after witnessing his lover’s tragic death, in the iconic film Thalavattam. The superstar appeared as Venugopal, an innocent medical representative who gets framed in a murder case, in Hello My Dear Wrong Number. Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu featured the veteran actor as Shambu, a poor driver who disguises himself as the US-returned businessman Madhavan.
