Mohanlal to reunite with TK Rajeev Kumar for his next outing? Here's what we know

Mohanlal is reportedly all set to join hands with filmmaker TK Rajeev Kumar, for a content-driven film. The new update was revealed by popular musician Sharreth, recently.

Mohanlal is now stepping into an exciting phase in his acting career with some promising projects in his kitty. The superstar is reportedly planning to take a break from his signature commercial films after a series of box office failures. Instead, the Drishyam actor is planning to be a part of some content-driven films. Interestingly, Mohanlal is now set to play the lead role in his close friend, senior filmmaker TK Rajeev Kumar’s untitled project.

Mohanlal, TK Rajeev Kumar to reunite for a project?

The Malayalam superstar is currently all set to release his directorial debut Barroz in a couple of months. TK Rajeev Kumar, the senior filmmaker joined the 3D fantasy film after original writer and creative head Jijo Punnoose exited. Now, the recent reports suggest that the actor-director duo is reuniting for yet another project, after the release of Barroz. However, the upcoming project of Mohanlal and TJ Rajeev Kumar is not a big-budget venture but is a content-driven film made on a moderate budget.

The exciting update was revealed by Sharreth, the senior music composer, in a recent chat with a leading Malayalam media. The celebrated musician, who confirmed that he is reuniting with Mohanlal and TK Rajeev Kumar after a long gap for the project, also dropped a major update on the film’s genre. According to Sharreth, the upcoming project is a content-driven musical drama, based on a famous folklore story. However, the actor-director duo has not officially announced the project, yet.

Mohanlal-TK Rajeev Kumar films to stream on OTT

For the uninitiated, Mohanlal and TK Rajeev Kumar joined hands for some highly acclaimed films, in the past. The duo first teamed up in 1994 for the classic family drama film, Pavithram. The movie, which featured the superstar as the iconic character Unni Krishnan aka Chettachan, earned immense love from the audiences with its performances and iconic songs composed by Sharreth. Pavithram is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

The actor-director duo later teamed up for action-drama film Thacholi Varghese Chekavar, which featured Mohanlal in the titular role. The movie is now streaming on both Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium. Mohanlal and TK Rajeev Kumar’s third outing Oru Naal Varum, the satirical comedy film that also stars Sreenivasan in the lead role, is also available for streaming on Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium.
