The costumes of the actor have become a topic of discussion as fans are celebrating his swag on social media. Jishad Shamsudeen, a costume designer who has been working as the star's stylist, has revealed that Mathew's look was inspired by a character in the Narcos series.
Jishad said that director Nelson had given him a few suggestions pertaining to Mohanlal's costumes and wanted them to resemble the popular style of the 1970s and 1980s. "He wanted Mohanlal to look like a don similar to Pablo Escobar. Later, the costume of the character Hélmer Herrera from Narcos series became an inspiration for Mathew's costumes," Jishad said while talking to a YouTube channel titled Movie World Media.
The designer created 17 styles, but only five were finally shortlisted. The makers then chose the leopard shirt for Mohanlal's character in the film. According to Jishad, Mohanlal usually prioritizes comfort over style but approached his costumes in Jailer differently. He also revealed that Mohanlal himself suggested making the costume loud by adding extra bracelets and chains.

Apart from the superstars from three industries, the film also features actors like Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan and Vasanth Ravi. The action flick, which is rewriting several records, revolves around a retired Jailer and the unexpected events that happen in his life after his son goes missing.
According to reports, Jailer has emerged as a box office juggernaut across the world collecting more than 200 crores in three days. It is also the Tamil film with the highest opening day in 2023 at the Kerala box office, surpassing Vijay's Varisu. The movie is regarded as the comeback of Rajinikanth after his previous movies like Darbar and Annaatthe turned out to be disappointments.
