Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is quite upbeat about his upcoming movie Malaikottai Vaaliban , which is now in post-production. Helmed by maverick filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery, it's one of the most-awaited movies in Mohanlal's career.

"We are also in anticipation of that film. It's a very unique film in terms of its cinematic treatment. It's like a Western movie. There is no set period or the background. The music, colour patterns or actions would feel very fresh and new which has never been seen in Malayalam cinema. We created this film on a grand canvas, and Lijo has handled it beautifully," Mohanlal said while talking to a Malayalam news channel.

Mohanlal said that this film will appeal to a wide spectrum of audiences. "It will work as a 'mass' film, a spiritual film; it's also philosophical and delves into a very serious subject. It all depends on the way the audience perceives it," he added.

Earlier, the filmmakers unveiled Mohanlal's unique look from the movie. And the poster was designed to highlight the immense physical power of Mohanlal's character. The poster features a muscular Mohanlal sporting a distinct hairstyle, appearing to exert himself as he pulls an incredibly heavy object. The image is reminiscent of the character Atlas from Greek mythology, who was tasked with holding up the world. The poster also suggests that Malaikottai Vaaliban might be a period drama.

Mohanlal showed a lot of dedication to Malaikottai Vaaliban, which required him to undergo a physical transformation. Mohanlal religiously hit the gym to gain a musical physique to play the role in the movie. At 63 years, Mohanlal is giving the young generation stars a run for their money when it comes to fitness.

Malaikottai Vaaliban is one of the longest-shot films in Lijo's career so far as it took him approximately 130 days to complete the production. The film also marks Lijo's highest-budget film to date.

Malaikottai Vaaliban also stars Danish Sait, Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi and Katha Nandi in pivotal roles.
