The superstar will wind up the shoot of his directorial debut with another schedule in Portugal
After almost seven months of shoot, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is gearing up to conclude the principal photography of his directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. The film has two more songs to be shot that will be filmed in Thailand and Portugal.
The first of these will be shot in Thailand, where the entire team is headed next. The schedule is expected to be wrapped up within a week. The team will then leave for Europe only after a fortnight after Mohanlal concludes work on Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 4, which he is hosting.
The actor will next resume shooting for Jeethu Joseph’s Ram, which was halted in 2020 due to the pandemic lockdown. The action-thriller, which also has Trisha and Indrajith Sukumaran, will be shot in the UK and Middle East, and will mark Mohanlal’s second acting venture this year after the 3D children’s fantasy Barroz, in which he plays a 300-year-old treasure guardian.
Mohanlal also recently announced that he is teaming up with Athiran director Vivek for his next film after Ram. While the genre of the movie is kept under wraps, it’s expected to be another thriller. Vivek recently also wrapped up shooting for The Teacher, a new-age thriller that has Amala Paul, Chemban Vinod Jose and Hakkim Shajahan in the lead.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal has two more big releases lined up – Vysakh’s Monster and Shaji Kailas’ Alone. The superstar had completed the shoot of both the movies, produced by Aashirvaad Cinemas, last year. Monster, which is scripted by Udaykrishna, is an investigative thriller that also has Sudev Nair, Lakshmi Manchu and Durga Krishna in pivotal roles. The film has Mohanlal playing a cop named Lucky Singh.
Alone, however, is a single-actor movie that is set during the pandemic. Both movies are touted to be direct-to-OTT releases. An official announcement on this is yet to be made.
