Mammootty fans celebrated the actor’s 51st year in the film industry on August 6, 2022
It seems that fan fights these days aren’t just restricted to days of a superstar’s release. On August 6, which marked Mammootty’s 51st year in the film industry, the fans of the actor on Twitter made sure that his name trended along with #51YearsofMammoottysm. However, Mohanlal fans seemed to have wanted to overtake that trend too, with them being on an overdrive of posting photos and updates about the actor’s latest film and events.
The day started with Mammootty fans taking to Twitter to wish the megastar the best for entertaining them for all these years while also expressing their desire to see Mammootty’s beginning work on Amal Neerad’s Bilal as well as a movie with son Dulquer Salmaan.
This trend however seemed to have been short-lived in Kerala with Mohanlal fans taking to Twitter post updates on Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s Ram, which coincidentally resumed shooting on the day. But it wasn’t just the news about Ram that the fans had been pushing through their social media accounts, as they were sharing Mohanlal’s recent photos from AMMA’s rehearsal camp as well as a music and book launch that he had attended the past week.
The rivalry between the fans of the superstars is nothing new, but it seems to have taken a new turn with Mammootty’s recent films including Amal Neerad’s Bheeshma Parvam, Ratheena’s Puzhu and K Madhu’s CBI 5: The Brain doing well in theatres and OTTs as compared to Mohanlal’s movies such as Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, Aaraattu and 12th Man.
Incidentally, Dulquer in an earlier interview with us had an interesting take on the fan fights in the industry, with him saying that he looks at cinema as a sport. “Just like you have your favourite teams, you have your favourite stars. That’s how I have learnt to see it,” he said, adding that he feels it’s important at least within the industry, it’s important that actors support and root for each other.
