The movie, which is touted to be a single-actor thriller, had completed shooting last year
Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas’ much-awaited collaboration after a gap of 13 years is gearing up for release. The filmmaker has begun the dubbing works for Alone, which is scripted by Rajesh Jayaraman.
Mohanlal, who was busy with his directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure, began dubbing for the film recently. The actor had concluded the Goa schedule of the film a few days ago and had travelled to Mumbai to shoot the weekend episodes of Bigg Boss, before beginning the dubbing of Shaji Kailas film.
In an earlier interview, Mohanlal had told us that Alone is a thriller set during the pandemic. The Bro Daddy star said that it’s a single-actor movie with most of the other characters appearing only as voices through phone calls. The film had completed shooting last year along with Mohanlal’s Bro Daddy, 12th Man and Monster.
According to reports, the film’s producers Aashirvad Cinemas had been in negotiations with several OTT platforms for the release of Alone. While Mohanlal had earlier confirmed that Bro Daddy and 12th Man’s OTT rights were sold at the outset, they were yet to take a call on Alone and Monster. The makers are yet to announce whether the latter two films will be direct-to-OTT release, but considering the long list of Malayalam movies that are awaiting release in theatres, the movies could be heading the OTT route.
Meanwhile, Shaji Kailas also has Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaduva gearing up for release. The film’s scriptwriter Jinu V Abraham had told OTTplay that they were looking at a June end release for the ‘mass’ action entertainer, which also has Vivek Oberoi, Arjun Ashokan and Samyuktha Menon. The team recently had completed the DTS mixing of the big budget entertainer, which will mark Prithviraj’s second theatrical release since the pandemic.
