Mohanlal and Nivin Pauly to team up in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s next after Varshangalkku Shesham?

Director-actor Vineeth Sreenivasan seems to have pulled off a hat-trick of casting coups, if the rumours of his next project after Varshangalkku Shesham are true. The Hridayam filmmaker will reportedly team up with Mohanlal and Nivin Pauly for the upcoming film, as per reports.

While there’s no official confirmation from the director, who is currently busy with the post-production of Varshangalkku Shesham that is set to be an April release, Nivin, in an earlier interview, had confirmed that he was in discussion with Vineeth. The Premam star is also part of Varshangalkku Shesham, which has Pranav Mohanlal, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Basil Joseph and Kalyani Priyadarshan in pivotal roles. Mohanlal had also played a cameo in Nivin's Kayamkulam Kochunni.

Vineeth Sreenivasan to script Priyadarshan's next?

There are several rumours doing the rounds, the most exciting one is that Vineeth will be scripting Priyadarshan's next. The actor and the veteran filmmaker teamed up for the first time in last year’s Corona Papers that had Vineeth in a cameo.

Singer MG Sreekumar had confirmed that such a project was in the pipeline. While it's not yet clear whether the two projects are the same, rumours are rife that an upcoming movie will be produced by Noble Thomas, who had previously backed Jacobinte Swargarajyam and has Vineeth reuniting with composer Shaan Rahman. Incidentally, Vineeth will also be part of Shaan’s upcoming music tour.

In an earlier interview, Vineeth had told us that he had always wanted to do a movie with Mohanlal but couldn’t lock a subject that he thought would warrant the acting talents of the Malaikottai Vaaliban superstar.

Varshangalkku Sesham to be a Vishu release?

While it’s Vineeth’s first movie with Mohanlal, the filmmaker has already directed the superstar’s son Pranav Mohanlal twice – in Hridayam and Varshangalkku Shesham. In a previous interview with OTTplay, Vineeth said, “I never thought I would get such a huge cast for this film.” He said every person that he had approached, immediately agreed to be part of the movie, with some even rearranging their schedules so they can act in the film. “It wasn’t something I had expected,” he said.

The movie has a period setting, and has the film industry as the backdrop. Vineeth also admitted that the film has “an influence of the people that I have seen as well as the stories I have heard growing up”. Varshangalkku Shesham is expected to hit theatres in April with several other big Malayalam movies including Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham and Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham.
