Modern Love, an Amazon series based on the New York Times column of the same name, was a much celebrated show across the globe. It reflected the complexities of modern-day relationships in a metropolis with a lightness and a tenderness that made for a breezy watch. The platform has planned something similar for India with stories set in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.
While Modern Love Mumbai released to critical acclaim a few weeks ago, the trailer of Modern Love Hyderabad was launched today in the city amidst the show creators, directors, cast and crew. Modern Love Hyderabad comprises six shorts directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, Venkatesh Maha, Uday Gurrala and Devika Buhadhanam.

While a father is extremely protective about his daughter and is wary of the man she’s to marry, there’s a couple where the man still needs to go the distance to understand his partner. An orphan is yet to get over the trauma of being distanced from his loved ones. A standup comedian finds herself falling in love for an event manager.
In another case, there’s a huge misunderstanding between a 20s something couple. A story is also about a two women of different age groups, who come to terms with one another while staying under the same roof. Where are all these tales headed? This glimpse of Modern Love Hyderabad truly showcases the effort to portray many dimensions of love beyond ‘romance’.
