Vedvika Soni, model-turned-actress, who shot to fame with her music videos, is gearing up to make her Telugu debut with a slew of projects. She’ll foray into the industry with the Tamil-Telugu bilingual titled Spark, a psychological thriller also starring Mehreen Pirzada and Vikranth in key roles. The film is directed by a debutant Aravind Kumar.

Meanwhile, she has also signed another interesting film, headlined by actor-director Srinivas Avasarala. Understandably excited about her beginnings in Telugu cinema, here’s what she says about both the projects. “I am cast as a quintessential working woman in Spark. In Srinivas Avasarala’s next, I get to play a thief and the role is quite quirky,” she shares.

Learning Telugu wasn’t an easy task, she admits but hails her directors and co-actors for making the job simpler for her. “It is never a barrier for me. My focus is on doing good work and I hope to extend my wings into Malayalam and Tamil industries. In fact, I’m equally thrilled to be making my Kannada debut soon as well,” says the Ahmedabad-based actress, who shifts between Bengaluru and Hyderabad for work.

Her career as a model during college days kickstarted in 2019 with a photoshoot for a sprint shoot and Youtube videos in Gujarat. In her bid to understand the nitty gritties of the entertainment industry, she planned to shift to Mumbai, though COVID-19 altered her course. “Even during COVID-19 lockdown, I researched about Telugu industry online, learning about its directors, producers and opportunities."

She gradually bagged two Telugu projects as a parallel lead and credits her director Aravind Kumar for mentoring her during this phase. Vedvika also had a brief cameo in Ravi Teja's Dhamaka and says it’s a dream come true to be playing one of the central characters in a mainstream Telugu film. Stating that she had a great work experience, Vedvika can’t wait for the Telugu projects to release and hog the limelight.
