The Shantanu Bagchi directorial will premiere on Netflix.
Sidharth Malhootra and Rashmika Mandanna are all set for the premiere of their upcoming spy thriller, Mission Majnu. The film, which marks Sidharth’s second direct to OTT release after Shershaah(2021), is directed by Shantanu Bagchi. The film will see Rashmika essay the role of a visually impaired woman, and the actress recently opened up about her intense preparation for the role.
The trailer of the upcoming film was launched on Monday at an event in Mumbai, which saw both the film’s lead stars in attendance. During the event, Rashmika revealed that she felt very scared to essay the character in the beginning. “I remember initially I had to start by blindfolding myself, and I reached to a point where I could make aloo-sabzi without looking”, she said.
She spoke about how she was required to catch a tennis ball thrown at her by sensing rather than seeing it, and how she had to count the steps she had to take to go in and out of the place she was training at. The whole training process took her about 2-3 weeks.
“That was quite hard and intense. But I realised that when one of your senses is taken away, all your other senses get highlighted. While shooting also I had to figure out a way which was comfortable for me to maintain the performance throughout the whole time essaying the character.
I have a technique that I’ll tell you later. But it was very interesting as an actor”, said Rashmika.
Her co-star Sidharth added that Rashmika had a line in the film that showcased how her sense of smell is heightened, where the character says that she can smell someone coming. The actor also added that the film inculcated this element in a subtle yet interesting way.
Mission Majnu will premiere on Netflix on January 20, 2023.
