Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One: Tom Cruise does the 'normal', performs the biggest stunt in cinema history

The actor is set to reprise his role as superspy Ethan Hunt in what is expected to be the franchise's penultimate installment

A new behind-the-scenes trailer for Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One offers a fresh perspective on the most perilous manoeuvre Tom Cruise has ever performed. After the success of Mission: Impossible – Fallout in 2018, Cruise is set to play superspy, Ethan Hunt, again in what is likely to be the penultimate movie in the Mission: Impossible series. Christopher McQuarrie will direct the movie again, and the first trailer hinted that Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Henry Czerny's characters would be back. Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Cary Elwes, and Shea Whigham are among the latest cast members to join the franchise.

After first showing up at the end of the first Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One trailer, Cruise's daring motorbike cliff jump is now shown in a new behind-the-scenes film from Paramount Pictures. The most recent trailer makes it clear that this is by far the most dangerous stunt Cruise has ever done, but the actor still shows the usual excitement he always has for his work.

With the exception of the 1996 original film, Mission: Impossible—Fallout is regarded by many fans as the best instalment in the series. The 2018 film, which is the sixth overall, includes a lot of outstanding stunts, such as a HALO leap, a motorbike chase, a vehicle chase, and an exciting helicopter sequence in the closing act. Although it seems like Cruise's death-defying stunts are getting even more attention in Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One, there are a number of additional components that could ultimately help the movie surpass its predecessor in terms of passion and emotion. August Walker/John Lark, who was played by Henry Cavill, was a strong enemy, but in the next movie, a major enemy from Ethan's earlier movies will return.

In the first Mission: Impossible movie, Czerny made his acting debut as Eugene Kittridge, who wasn't the main antagonist but rather a significant roadblock for Ethan. Even though we don't know why Kittridge will be back in the upcoming seventh movie, he may help tie the movie to the beginning of Ethan's time as an IMF agent. Since the eighth and final Mission: Impossible movie is likely to be pretty similar to the first one in terms of plot, Kittridge's return may help Ethan's character arc come to a close. Even though there will likely be more stunts in the upcoming movie, it can differentiate itself from the first two films by focusing more on Ethan's personality.

The movie is already looking like an exciting addition to Ethan's journey. Although the circumstances surrounding Ethan's motorcycle jump from a cliff are still unclear, the jump itself demonstrates that Cruise is still willing to challenge himself. Fans can expect another Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One trailer soon since the film is scheduled for release in July 2023.
