Tovino Thomas and Basil Joseph’s superhero film is already among the most-anticipated films this Christmas, thanks to the positive response the movie has garnered at the world premiere at Mumbai Film Festival and the engaging promotional campaigns by Netflix since the start of the month.

Soon after the embargo of the movie’s reviews were lifted today, Tovino also announced when the movie will be dropping on the streaming platform on December 24. In a social media post, the Mollywood actor revealed that the film will be available to stream on Netflix from 1.30pm IST. Fans, who have been waiting for over a year for the movie’s release, will surely be marking the date and time on the calendars as the festive season kicks off.

Minnal Murali, which is touted to be Malayalam’s first superhero film, revolves around a youth named Jaison, from the fictional village of Kurukkanmoola, acquiring superpowers after being struck by lightning. How he controls his powers and uses it to save the village from another terrifying force is what the movie is about.

Apart from Tovino, the film has Guru Somasundaram as its antagonist along with Aju Varghese, Femina George, Jude Anthany Joseph, Baiju Santosh, Harishree Ashokan, Mamukkoya, P Balachandran and Sneha Babu as part of the cast.

The film also has a top-notch technical crew featuring Samir Thahir as its cinematographer, Sushin Shyam and Shaan Rahman as its composers, Manu Jagadh as its art director and Livingstone Mathew as its editor. Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew are its screenwriters.

Minnal Murali is reportedly set to be made into a franchise, with Tovino saying that a sequel too is in the pipeline. The film marks the second collaboration between Tovino and Basil Joseph after their comedy-entertainer Godha.
