Not every star kid has an easy journey in the film industry. While some pursue the talent in which they excel at, a few of them prefer to follow the footsteps of their ancestors to make them feel proud.
One such star kid is Mimoh Chakraborty – the son of legendary Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty and actress Yogita Bali – who too desired to bring smiles on the faces of his parents. Mimoh made his Bollywood debut in the year 2008 with Jimmy. However, this film turned out to be a disaster and minted barely any money at the theatres.
This development not only shook Mimoh to the core of his heart, but also brought tears to the eyes of his famous parents. Here’s what transpired.
In an interview with film critic Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Mimoh recalls, “There was a comedy show where someone said that after watching Mimoh’s film, it feels like that ‘Yogita ki yogyata mein problem ho gayi‘.”
Mimoh then goes on to say that this joke really angered him and shook him from within. He adds, “I said ‘don’t speak about my mom.’ Okay, dad is from the industry, he is a legend. What has mom done to you? There is a moral code that you don’t speak about someone’s mother. Dad is okay, you can. I said you can mock me, you can laugh at my dad at my expense also, but why my mother?”
Mimoh also spoke about the time when he read some really heart-breaking words about himself in a film review after Jimmy’s release. “I remember after Jimmy’s release, I was devastated when a review read that Mimoh Chakraborty isn’t even fit enough to be a junior artist,” he says.
However, times have changed now and hopefully for the better. The 38-year-old Mimoh was recently seen in Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer film Jogira Sara Ra Ra directed by Kushan Nandy. The film also stars Sanjay Mishra and Neha Sharma in key roles.
