Mimi trailer: Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi’s film promises a hilarious journey on surrogacy

The trailer of Kriti Sanon’s comedy-packed film Mimi dropped today. The family entertainer film, which also features Pankaj Tripathi, revolves around surrogacy.

The trailer starts off with Kriti and Pankaj’s characters engrossed in a discussion about pregnancy. The latter then informs Kriti’s character Mimi that she has been chosen by a couple abroad to be their child’s surrogate mother. At first, Mimi doesn’t get the concept of ‘bearing someone else’s child’ but later understands and accepts the offer in exchange for a hefty sum of Rs 20 lakh. After a while, the couple pulls out and asks her to terminate the pregnancy, however, Mimi went on to become a mother.

The duo, who have had earlier shared screen space in films like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi and more, will be teaming up again for this movie and Tripathi’s brilliant comic timing promised to keep the audience hooked to the film.

Kriti took to her Twitter account to release the trailer. “#Mimi expected everything, except for this unexpected journey! Watch the glimpse of her unexpected story with your family. #MimiTrailer out now. Releasing on 30th July on @JioCinema & @NetflixIndia. #NothingLikeWhatYoureExpecting,” she tweeted.

Speaking about the film to PTI, Kriti said that the film is not preachy or serious. “It’s a very entertaining film, filled with humour, and a lot of ups and downs. There’s a beautiful graph of the woman I am playing, Mimi, where she wants to be an actress,” the actress added.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, the forthcoming comedy-drama also features Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak and Sai Tamhankar. Mimi will be exclusively released on Netflix and JioCinema on July 30.
