Writer-director Jade Halley Bartlett, in her January release, offers an insight into the inappropriate, growing relationship between a master and his young student, along with lust and rebelliousness.
A trailer with a disclaimer warning, sounds interesting? Lionsgate Movies on December 13 shared a fascinating trailer featuring Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman in a complicated teacher-student relationship. In her upcoming January release, writer-director Jade Halley Bartlett offers an insight into the inappropriate growing relationship between a master and his young student, along with hints of desire, lust, and rebelliousness.
Miller’s Girl trailer shows the dynamic duo of Ortega and Freeman
In the 2:21-minute trailer, we witness a talented young writer Cairo Sweet (played by Jenna Ortega) introducing herself in an eerily empty classroom to her teacher, Mr. Miller (played by Martin Freeman).
The former embarks on a creative odyssey when her teacher assigns a “short story” school project that entangles them both in an inexplicable relationship web. The turning point further blurs out their relationship dynamic, making their lives messier and entangled together. “Professor and protégé must confront their darkest selves while straining to preserve their sense of purpose and the things they hold most dear”.

Cast and release
Apart from the promising leads, the striking supporting cast is led by Dagmara Domińczyk, Bashir Salahuddin, and Gideon Adlon. Jointly produced by Seth Rogen, James Weaver, Evan Goldberg, Josh Fagen, and Mary-Margaret Kunze – This dramatic feature adds to Ortega’s list of stellar performances. The positive response from the audience after watching the pulsating trailer and the Wednesday actress seducing her master, the trailer garnered thousands of views within hours of release.
The movie is set to release theatrically on January 26 after premiering at the Palm Springs International Film Festival earlier in January.
