Michelle Obama’s documentary, which also featured Youtube sensation Prajakta Koli, has been nominated for the 48th annual daytime Emmys. Titled Creators For Change, the documentary also featured Liza Koshy and Thembe Mahlaba.
It has been nominated under the category of Outstanding Daytime Non-Fiction Special. For the uninitiated, the ceremony will take place on June 25. It will be streamed across the world globe owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prajakta released a statement soon after the announcement. Calling the news unbelievable, she shared, “The Emmys are such prestigious awards. Being nominated for a project this special is a win in itself. Big hugs to YouTube and Michelle Obama for giving me the opportunity of being a part of something so amazing. Another very special project has been ‘Khayali Pulao’. A film, very very close to my heart. Getting noticed across the globe on such a precious platform is our honour. Thanks to the jury of the New York Indian Film Festival.”
Khayali Pulav will be screened at the New York Indian Film Festival some time between June 4 and June 13.
The documentary, Creators For Change, focuses on adolescent girls in Vietnam, India and Namibia who struggle to get something as basic as education. However, the girls in the documentary, overcome their adversities and pursue their purpose of getting educated.
In her segment, Prajakta travelled to Prerna Foundation in Lucknow with the former first lady, to understand the situation of the children there.
The Youtuber-turned-actress is also gearing up for the second season of Netflix’s Mismatched opposite Rohit Saraf. She also plays a pivotal role in Jug Jug Jeeyo, which stars Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the lead roles.
