MG Srinivas in 'On Air'
Actor-director M.G. Srinivas, who recently starred in and directed the comedy-drama Old Monk, is gearing up for an exciting experimental thriller. Srini will soon be seen enthralling the global digital audience with a Kannada-Telugu bilingual 'On Air' wherein he plays a radio jockey. The team of 'On Air' unveiled the first look earlier today and also shared that the shooting of the film has been successfully wrapped up - 'On Air' is set to release directly on an OTT platform sometime in July.
And how does the term "experimental" associate with the film? Srini shares: "The entire film comprises a single character and the setting is a radio station. I play a radio jockey who interacts over the phone with a plethora of characters who are only heard but remain off the screen throughout. But what happens when a rather momentous phone call comes in? Things take an amazing twist and that's the narrative, in a nutshell".
While M.G. Srinivas plays the lead in the Kannada version of the film, its Telugu counterpart has a different actor taking charge. Srini had begun his professional career many years ago as a radio jockey but would soon foray into filmmaking and the upcoming film, he adds, is special because he gets to return to his roots.
'On Air' has been directed by Prashanth Sagar Atluri and produced Raghuveer Goripathi and Srujan Yarabolu. Prashanth Sagar, who makes his directorial debut in this case, has been a longtime associate of the revered story writer K.V. Vijayendra Prasad. Not very long ago, Srini had shared a snippet from the sets in which he stood beside 'Baahubali - The Conclusion' and 'RRR' writer and for obvious reasons, fans couldn't help but be intrigued about the prospects.
