The special series with five episodes has Omi Vaidya, Ranvir Shorey, Purbi Joshi, Vega Tamotia and Pitobash Tripathy reprise their roles for the quarantine edition of the Eros Now Original series Metro Park
Metro Park - Quarantine Edition
The sudden announcement of the lockdown all over the country due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March last year let down all of us, but it also created beautiful and fun memories for families and friends living together, at least for the first few weeks. From making Dalgona coffee to becoming each other's hairstylists during the lockdown, the Patel family too seemed to have their share of fun in Metropark.
The Metro Park Quarantine Edition on Eros Now, beautifully captures the trends during the lockdown period in its five-minute episodes, by giving them a comedic spin. The special series of the show was shot by the actors themselves with the help of their families. The witty disclaimer before each episode reads that the series was made possible by their children and spouses who became cinematographers and stunt doubles for the shoot.
The show's synopsis on Eros Now aptly reads: "Metropark is in quarantine mode but COVID can't curb the spirit of this town." Set in Metro Park, USA, the series narrates the story of two Gujarati families and neighbours and shares snippets of their daily lives during the lockdown. Kalpesh (Ranvir) rediscovers or tries to find his passion in cooking and singing, which annoys his hairstylist wife Payal (Purbi). Payal, on the other hand, starts online dance classes and keeps sharing her dance videos on Instagram.
In the first episode, Kalpesh is seen waking up to 'Go Corona Go', a song Payal is seen dancing to during an online tutorial. Kalpesh connects with his assistant Bittu (Pitobash) to discuss taking the insurance business online. Kalpesh is seen cribbing about Payal and the pandemic to Bittu. It reminds one about their conversations around the pandemic, panicking and being extra conscious, washing hands frantically, and developing a new hobby every week.
A scene in the third episode where Purbi adds herself to the live music show of Kalpesh on social media to tell him to get out of the toilet will leave you in splits. Many such instances of social media live sessions going wrong as other family members photobomb; men of the community having an online party; and Kannan (Omi) trying to stay calm after he develops COVID-19 symptoms while also documenting his recovery process will tickle your funny bones.
Though at the moment, lockdown might have been stressful, it sure brings a smile to our faces, looking back at it now. If it still doesn't do the trick, watch Metro Park Quarantine Edition. The mini-series will surely bring back fond memories of the lockdown, giving a flashback to one of the most difficult times that mankind has seen and known.
