Merry Christmas is gearing up for its theatrical release on January 12, 2024.
In less than a day, Merry Christmas will finally hit the big screen after a long wait. Ever since its announcement, the Sriram Raghavan film, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, has been generating excitement as a suspense thriller. Now that the film is gearing up for its theatrical release, we know on which OTT platform it will stream. Yes, Merry Christmas will drop on Netflix probably a couple of months after it completes its theatrical run. The film has definitely intrigued cinephiles who are eager to throng to theatres to catch up on what has been cooked.
A Christmas Eve encounter takes a dark turn
In Merry Christmas after a long absence, Albert (Vijay Sethupathi) makes his long-awaited homecoming on Christmas Eve. He ventures out on Christmas Eve, still reeling from his mother's death, in search of joy at the city's celebrations. He befriends Maria (Katrina Kaif), a stunning and enigmatic woman, and her mute young daughter. Albert and Maria have an unexpected but inescapable attraction as the night develops into lengthy strolls and discussions. Albert satisfies all of Maria's desires. In addition, Albert considers Maria to be an extraordinary Christmas gift. However, a romantic evening quickly becomes a nightmare as events take a sinister turn.

Simultaneous filming in Hindi and Tamil
The film marks the Tamil debut of Sriram and Katrina as well as music composer Pritam. Moreover, it marks the third Hindi film for Vijay after Mumbaikar and Jawan.
Merry Christmas has been simultaneously shot in Hindi and Tamil. The film also stars Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles. The additional cast in the Hindi version includes Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kazmi, and Tinnu Anand, while the Tamil version features Radhika Sarathkumar, Gayathrie, Shanmugarajan, Kavin Jay Babu, and Rajesh.
Rescheduled release dates
The development difficulties caused the theatrical premiere of Merry Christmas to be postponed from its original December 23, 2022, date. The release date was later rescheduled from December 20, 2023, to January 12, 2024.
