The collections for Sriram Raghavan's Merry Christmas, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles, dipped further at the box office.
Merry Christmas, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, made its theatrical debut on January 12 to favourable reviews from both critics and viewers. It is directed by Sriram Raghavan. With an opening-day collection of Rs 2.45 crore, the movie had a sluggish start.
Early estimates from Sacnilk.com indicate that the movie's box office earnings on day five dropped even further, to just Rs 1.15 crore. Day 4 of the Katrina Kaif film brought in Rs 1.65 crore on Monday. The movie has made a total of Rs 12.50 crore at the box office.
Merry Christmas is a bilingual movie that has been released in Hindi and Tamil. Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi have collaborated for the first time on a film. In the Hindi version of the movie, Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand also play important parts. In the Tamil version, Rajesh Williams, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Radhika Sarathkumar all play important roles.
According to reports, the Hindi version of the movie had 10.25 percent occupancy on Tuesday. For its Tamil counterpart, the overall occupancy was 26.04 percent. The movie took in ₹1.65 crore net on Monday. The Tamil version brought in ₹20 lakh, whereas the Hindi version brought in ₹1.45 crore.
The cast of Merry Christmas is spectacular and includes, among others, Katrina Kaif, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Tinnu Anand, and Radhika Apte. With this film, Sriram Raghavan—who is well-known for his cinematic universe and storytelling—delivers yet another terrific narrative. Even with all of the good buzz, the movie's box office performance is not very impressive. The movie's box office receipts began rather well and are gradually declining. Going by the trend, it seems like by the end of this week, the movie will no longer be available to watch in theatres.
It should nevertheless be mentioned that despite the film's poor box office performance, audiences from the South and Hindi areas have been drawn to Merry Christmas because of its enticing story and charisma.
