Putting an end to all speculations, the Unni Mukundan starrer Meppadiyan is all set to hit theatres. Interestingly, the movie will also put an end to the three year gap after which an Unni Mukundan movie is going to be on the big screen.

The release date was announced by Mohanlal, taking the news to his official Facebook page. He shared the lyrical video of Lord Ayyappa song from the movie and wrote in the caption, “Meppadiyan releasing in January 14th, 2022.” The post and the song have gone instantly viral, within a few minutes.

Helmed by debutant Vishnu Mohan, the thriller will also feature Aju Varghese, Saju Kurup, Kalabhavan Shajon, while Anju Kurian will be seen playing the female lead. The movie is reported to be based on true incidents, which revolve around a common man. The storyline progresses as he gets to experience some unexpected incidents, which changes the entire course of his life.

With the release of exciting posters and appealing tracks, the movie whas been in the forefront since sometime. The track titled Kannil Minnum, has been a major hit among the audiences, sung by Karthik and Nithya Mammen.

The release of the movie was a matter of confusion, due to the pandemic uncertainties. Though the team intended for a theatrical release, the crew had also responded to the OTT plans, if the situations don't turn in favour.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, the director had said that the team was willing to wait for a few months for the theatres to get reopened, yet they will also be open to other options if the uncertainty continues.
