The sequel series will stream on Hulu in 2022.
The 1981 Hollywood comedy flick History of the World, Part I is getting a sequel after four decades. The creator of the film Mel Brooks will be returning as the director. Interestingly, the film sequel is set to be a series that will stream on Hulu in 2022. The film featured Brooks in five different roles including Moses, Comicus the stand-up philosopher, Tomás de Torquemada, King Louis XVI, and Jacques, le garçon de pisse.
For the uninitiated, with History of the World, Part I Mel Brooks brought his one-of-a-kind comic touch to the history of mankind covering events from the Old Testament to the French Revolution in a series of episodic comedies vignettes. For the sequel series, the filmmaker will be turning writer along with Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinholtz, Nick Kroll and will also serve as an executive producer, reported Variety.
Meanwhile, the 1981 film featured Dom DeLuise, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Cloris Leachman, Ron Carey, Gregory Hines, Pamela Stephenson, Shecky Greene, Sid Caesar and Mary-Margaret Humes in supporting roles.
Whereas Royce D. Applegate, Beatrice Arthur, Nigel Hawthorne, Hugh Hefner, John Hurt, Phil Leeds, Barry Levinson, Jackie Mason, Paul Mazursky, Andrew Sachs and Henny Youngman had special appearances in the film.
As per the entertainment portal, Brooks had shared his excitement on the sequel to History of the World, Part I. He stated, "I can't wait to once more tell the real truth about all the phoney-baloney stories the world has been conned into believing are History!"
Meanwhile, Brooks other popular directorial works include The Producers (1967), The Twelve Chairs (1970), Blazing Saddles (1974), Young Frankenstein (1974) Silent Movie (1976), High Anxiety (1977), Spaceballs (1987) and Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993).
He is one of the few artists to have been made it to the list of EGOT winners - Emmy, Grammy, Oscars and Tony Awards.
