The actress will play Ramesh Aravind’s boss in the central crime branch division
On Monday, the team of Ramesh Aravind’s detective franchise Shivaji Surathkal, which is currently in the making of the second film, The Mysterious Case of Mayavi, has a major new character addition. The team has got Meghana Gaonkar on board to play a tough cop, DCP Deepa Kamath, who will be Shivaji Surathkal’s boss at the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch Division. According to the makers, Meghana’s character is pivotal to the narrative, as she serves as one of Shivaji’s biggest supporters and is the one who entrusts him with the latest case, The Mysterious Case of Mayavi.
Although a brilliant detective, Shivaji Surathkal deals with his own demons in weird and eccentric ways. In an earlier conversation with us, Ramesh Aravind had said that The Mysterious Case of Mayavi is Case No.103, that transpires after the events of Ranagiri Rahasya, and will see Shivaji in control of his emotions, given that he is under treatment. The narrative apparently traverses across three timelines, with Ramesh sporting three distinctively different looks.
For Meghana, the role is special, because it gives her the opportunity to play cop, even if only for reel, given that her father is a real-life police officer. The actress is also excited to be back on a film set after a nearly two-year break owing to the pandemic. Filming of Shivaji Surathkal 2 is expected to take off in December. This is the first major character addition announcement from the team, given that Radhika Narayan, Raaghu Raamanakoppa and Vidya Murthy were already known to be part of the cast. Apart from Shivaji Surathkal 2, Meghana is also on board Karva 3, which will also take off later this year.
Produced by Anup Gowda and Rekha, Shivaji Surathkal 2 is directed by Akash Srivatsa and is Ramesh Aravind’s 103rd film.
