The show is set to premiere on June 4 on Amazon Prime Video,
With just a few days left for the premiere of the second season of The Family Man, the makers are leaving no stones unturned to pique the interest of the audience for the much anticipated series. Adding to the series of behind-the-scenes videos and stills, they have now released an image of Samantha Akkineni’s character from the Amazon Prime Video show.
The photo revealed Samantha’s character Raji sitting on a rock with a gritty look. The actress reportedly plays a LTTE fighter in the show as was revealed in its first trailer.
The trailer had courted controversy with many including the Tamil Nadu government taking offense at how Samantha’s character was called a terrorist in it. Tamil Nadu IT minister T Mano Thangaraj had approached the Information and Broadcasting ministry and said that branding a Tamilian actress Samantha as a terrorist in the show is "directly an attack on the pride of Tamils living around the world" and this will not be tolerated.
In response to this, the creators of the series, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, issued a statement, saying that some assumptions have been made based on a couple of shots in the trailer. The duo said that many of their lead cast members and members of the creative and writing team, are Tamilians. "We are very cognisant of the sentiments of the Tamil people and Tamil culture and have nothing but the utmost love and respect towards our Tamil people," the statement read.
Lately, it was also reported that Amazon Prime Video had asked Samantha to not speak on her character or the show before its release as part of damage control.
