Netflix India has dropped the teaser for Meenakshi Sundareshwar. The upcoming rom-com features Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani in the lead roles. The trailer gives a glimpse into what can one expect from the movie such as an arranged match for the onscreen couple and also getting into a long-distance relationship soon after that. The teaser also has a few funny moments such as Abhimanyu's character Sundareshwar talking about how engineers make for a good husband.

While in another scene, Sanya's character Meenakshi reveals she is a huge fan of Superstar Rajinikanth. To which Abhimanyu is heard saying that he doesn't watch movies as they put him to sleep. The teaser has a beautiful set-up of a Tam Brahm household giving major 2 States vibes too.

The makers have described the premise of Meenakshi Sundareshwar as "The film will take you on a journey with the two newlyweds as they navigate the long-distance insecurities, their just discovered love and obviously, the dramas that come with every new marriage ever!"

Vivek Soni has directed the film and penned the screenplay with Aarsh Vora. The film is produced by Karan Johar under his OTT wing Dharmatic Entertainment.

Meenakshi Sundareshwar is set to be a Diwali release on Netflix and will stream from November 5, 2021.

The film marks the third outing of Sanya on Netflix after her 2020 release Ludo directed by Anurag Basu and Pagglait which was helmed by Umesh Bist. However, her first OTT outing was Shakuntala Devi streaming on Amazon Prime Video and starring Vidya Balan in the titular role. In the film, Sanya played Vidya's onscreen daughter.

Meanwhile, Meenakshi Sundareshwar marks the second movie outing of Abhimanyu after his impressive debut in Vasan Bala directorial Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota which hit the screens in 2018.
