The list of theatres that KRG Studios has released for Max does not include single-screens in hardcore Kannada centres
Kiccha Sudeep’s Max is only a couple of days away from its date with audiences and as part of the last set of promotional activities, the team had a trailer launch planned for the morning of December 22, a pre-release event in Chitradurga later in the evening and advance bookings set to open at night. This was the day for #MaxtheMovie to trend, thought the actor’s fans.
But then things began to go sideways. After promising the trailer at 11.08, with only minutes to go for its launch, it was postponed. The trailer would be launched at the pre-release event it was said, without offering a specific time for when to expect it to go live.

Add to that the first list of theatres that distributor KRG Studios published, which had fans hoping that it would not be the final set. The list includes 110 single screens, but these they felt were not among the best available, with many situated in non-Kannada areas, where, traditionally, other language films tend to work better. This will also mean that the Sankranti releases will replace Max in 2-weeks’ time.
The problem, felt netizens, was that KVN Productions, which distributed Upendra’s UI, already holds the cream of the crop as far as theatres go. As a silver lining, though, the film will open with early morning shows. As of now, Shivamogga, Mysuru and Hosur have listed multiple shows between 6 and 6.30 am, with more to be announced in the course of the day.
Bookings for these shows are expected to open late on December 22 or early December 23 at the latest. Fans suggest that the team ought to provide a link to the booking page at the end of the trailer and make the most of the moment. There’s no update on how ticket rates will be fixed for Max.
