Matti Katha, after winning nine awards at multiple film fests and completing nearly three weeks post its theatrical release, is set for a global digital premiere this Friday. Directed by Pavan Kadiyala, the film stars Ajey Ved, Kanakavva, Maya, Dayanand Reddy, Balagam Sudhakar Reddy and others in pivotal roles. The small-budget film was bankrolled by Appi Reddy of Mic Movies.

Noted streamer aha bagged the streaming rights of the film for a decent price and will premiere it on October 13. For the uninitiated, the story revolves around three happy-go-lucky yet irresponsible high school students with no lofty ambitions whose world turns upside down when they get caught cheating in an exam. The situation spirals out of their control and results in a personal tragedy.
A reason why the film makes a difference is its attempt to shed stereotypes around the depiction of the Telangana region in mainstream cinema. In a staple film set in the rural areas of the state, filmmakers in recent months have constantly reduced villagers to caricatures, not really showcasing their persona beyond the free-flow of cuss words, booze parties and dance numbers.
However, in Matti Katha, you get to know the pivotal characters beyond their idiosyncrasies and also get to notice their vulnerabilities, innocence without being diluted by commercial liberties. The storytelling is quite sharp and organic, while the use of music within the story is equally innovative. The film has a good mix of emotions, humour, drama and is an ideal watch on OTT.
Balveer Singh, Akshay, Raju Aluri, Bathurst Tena, Ruchitha, Seetha mahalaxmi Mallesham, Nanda Gopal form the supporting cast. Smaran Sai composed the music for the film while Uday Khumbam and Ram Krishna jointly edited it. Sainath cranked the camera and Hema Sunder is the creative head. Satish Manjeera is the co-producer.
