Lyric Ross, who played Deja Pearson in the family drama This is Us has boarded the cast of Marvel Studios' and Disney+ series Ironheart.
The series stars Dominique Thorne (Judas and the Black Messiah) as Riri Williams, described as "a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armour since Iron Man." Ross will be seen as Williams’ best friend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show also stars Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), and his character is believed to be the show's antagonist.
Williams's character is created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato, and was first introduced in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man No. 7.
Chinaka Hodge (writer on Snowpiercer series), will serve as the head writer of Ironheart. The show is expected to begin shooting in June in Atlanta.
For her portrayal of Pearson on This is Us Ross was nominated as Choice Breakout TV Star at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards. She has three NAACP Image Award nominations and won a SAG Award win in 2019 for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series.
Before This is Us, Ross was seen in shows like Sirens and Chicago Fire. She is also a part of an upcoming teen drama The Class.
