A two-hour-long documentary on the rise, fall and comeback of America’s first self-made woman billionarire, the entrepreneur, author and TV personality Martha Stewart is heading audience’s way. Netflix is set to present the documentary by director RJ Cutler, tracing how over 5 decades she shaped American culture in her own little ways.

The documentary, called Martha, will drop on Netflix on October 30 and looks to pull back the curtain on one of America’s greatest self-made icons - from her early days as a teenage model to her stint as a Wall Street stockbroker, caterer, cookbook and lifestyle author, publisher, TV personality, etc.

Pieced together from hours of intimate interviews with Stewart and those from her inner circle, along with her private archives of diaries, letters, and never-seen-before footage, the documentary takes audiences through her upbringing in a working-class family, her marriage, the scandal that sent her to prison, and her reinvention as the original influencer. She talks about being strict, demanding and all things that make a successful entrepreneur.

Talking about Stewart, director Cutler says, “She made the world a more beautiful place, and gave us greater access to beauty. She democratized fashion, taste, and style. She saw the future before others saw it and she always had to overcome enormous obstacles that were in her way… “People don’t understand just how much of a visionary Martha was and continues to be. She understood the power of the personal brand before others did.”

One of the major talking points of the trailer of the documentary was Stewart’s response to infidelity in her marriage. Advising women to get out of a marriage at the slightest hint of a cheating spouse, she admitted that she herself conducted an extra-marital affair for a very long time, which, she believes, her husband never caught on to during their time together.
