Lee Yi-kyung had another 'Gwenchana' moment but the context was different in Marry You
Lee Yi-kyung, often called the Gwenchana guy because of his viral scene from Welcome To Waikiki, is back! He is here with another Gwenchana moment, this time in his latest offering, Marry Yoo. Yi-kyung had the sweetest ‘gwenchana’ moment in the series. Unlike Welcome To Waikiki though, here everything is more than ‘gwenchana’ (alright). It happened in the latest episode of the series. Here’s what exactly happened…
While trying to set up an introverted Ji-suk (Seo Ji-suk) for a date, who came to him for help, Lee Yi-kyung’s Cheol-hui uses his catchphrase 'gwenchana.' Things instantly hit off for Ji-suk, since the woman not only accepted his dating request but they connected on all levels when it came to their first date.
Welcome To Waikiki saw Yi-kyung in the role of struggling actor Joon-ki. Despite his father being a popular face in the industry, Joon-ki always tried to make it on his own but given how ruthless the industry is, he cannot earn even as much as expected. Thus, he is stuck with his Rebecca (an old model of car which is broken). Joon-ki however loves Rebecca because he bought her before what he believes is an important role in his career.
Once, when he took his friends Dong-goo (Kim Jung-hyun) and Yoon-a (Jung In-sun) out, Rebecca stopped right after starting. Dong-goo pulled the seat belt, only to find out that it is broken and doesn’t come down all the way. He then tried holding the handle above his head but that came off too. Thanks to this, Dong-goo wished to get out of the car. However, he was unable to since the door on his side only opens from outside. In fact, the lock also came off when he tried to open it from inside the car. While trying to break the window with his elbows, Dong-goo reaches out to the glove box, only to find out that is broken too.
Joon-ki keeps a casual attitude through it all and uses his typical ‘gwenchana gwenchana’ to talk about how the engine can start again and how he can sew the seat belt back in place. It was after seeing hyper Dong-goo break his Rebecca apart, that Joon-ki asked his friend to leave his car alone and covered up the flaws by calling her a ‘transparent friend.’
Another scene in the very scenes was between Joon-ki and his other friend. When seated in the car, one door would always open by itself. Of couse, Joon-ki’s initial reaction to that too was ‘gwenchana gwenchana.’ Eventually, the two settled for an open bonnet ride in the car.
