The film, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, revolves around time travel
Vishal is back with a bang with the action entertainer, Mark Antony. The film, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, revolves around time travel and is set in a retro backdrop. The film has been billed as a comeback outing for Vishal, who has been looking at a solid hit for a while. Here are five things to watch out for in the action entertainer.
SJ Suryah's solid performance
The biggest highlight of the film is the fantastic performance by SJ Suryah. The actor has been rightly called Nadippin Arakkan in the title card and has lived up to the tag. SJ Suryah fires on all cylinders and has come out with one of his career-best performances, so much so that he is the heart and soul of the film. Be it Marudhu Pandian or Jackie Pandian, he is on fire.
Vishal back with a bang
The film has been called the ideal comeback project for Vishal, who has not had a solid hit in a while, in his last outings, be it Laththi, Chakra, Action or Ayogya to name a few. In Mark Antony, he rocks both as Mark and Antony. The action seamlessly segues from the father character to that of the son, who are polar opposites from each other.
A solid supporting cast
Both actors manage to impress heavily in their retro avatars. Giving them apt company are Sunil, Selvaraghavan and Redin Kingsley. While Selvaraghavan is apt in the cameo as scientist Chiranjeevi, so are the rest of the star cast.
An ode to Raghuvaran
Just like the film's title, Mark Antony is an ode to veteran actor Raghuvaran's iconic character of the same name in Superstar Rajinikanth's Baashha. Raghuvaran played the suave villain in the Suresh Krissna and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call the film, SJ Suryah's own Baashha moment, for he shines from the word go.
Tribute to Ajith
The director also makes a series of references to Ajith, right from his maiden venture Amaravathi to his upcoming film Vidaamuyarchi. Adhik Ravichandran is a huge fan of the actor and he has proved his dedication in the film.
