The makers of Malayalam upcoming film, Marco, confirmed that its filming has begun today (May 3) during a puja ceremony held in Munnar. The young star’s new look during the ceremony has been enthusiastically shared by his fans on various social media platforms.

Actor Sharaf U Dheen had also taken part in the event. It has also been confirmed that a Bollywood actress will be playing the female lead, along with other stars from the industry.

Siddique, Jagadish, Anson Paul, Kabir Duhan Singh and Abhimanyu Thilakan are among the supporting cast of the film, which will tell the backstory of one of the stylist antagonists of Malayalam cinema, Marco Jr. The full-fledged action entertainer, which is directed by Haneef Adeni, is expected to be released by the end of this year.

Who is Marco Jr in the film?

Marco Jr. appeared as the antagonist in the Haneef-directed 2019 movie Mikhael. You can watch this film on Amazon Prime. Unni played the sultry villain Marco Jr. who wants to exact revenge on his brother's and nephew's murder. Despite the actor's lack of antagonistic roles throughout his career, he delivers a memorable performance as Marco Jr.

Unni Mukundan calls Marco the ‘most violent project’

After a seven-year hiatus from action films, the young star revealed in an OTTplay interview that he will now be featuring in one with Marco. The forthcoming Malayalam film promises to be the bloodiest ever made. "I am thrilled to start working on it. We have some intriguing parts in the project, and Haneef and I had a long conversation about it," Unni said.

He continued, saying that he liked to think of the film as a celebration of violence and that it will be far more violent than viewers could have ever imagined. The actor went on to say that he had been wanting to make a really good action movie for a while and that Marco would serve as an expertly composed project. "We do not want to minimise any sequences because we fear an issue from any side," he stated.
