The upcoming Mohanlal epic war and period drama Marakkar has been trending immensely since the day of its announcement. The teaser and looks of the cast of the movie had piqued the anticipation of the fans to the maximum. With the release of the movie still on the fence, let's have a look at a recent video of 'Thala' Ajith Kumar visiting the cast and crew on the film sets.
We get to see Thala on the sets of Marakkar in the video. He is seen interacting with the team of the historical drama. Joyous pleasantries are passed between him and Mohanlal, Arjun Sarja and Suniel Shetty among others. Mohanlal and Thala are seen in an engaging conversation, hinting about a collaboration.
Meanwhile, the sets of Marakkar look inspired from a historical novel from the 16th Century, which is the time period the movie is set in. The costumes of the ensemble cast remind us of the ones that were worn by the people from the world of Aladdin.
Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea is a magnum opus project helmed by Priyadarshan. It talks about a naval commander who was known for defending the Malabar Coast against the Portuguese invasion. Starring Mohanlal in the role of Kunjali Marakkar IV as the saviour, we will also get to see Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier and Keerthy Suresh among others in vintage avatars.
Also releasing in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, Marakkar is the most expensive Malayalam films ever made with a budget of 100 crore rupees. Filming for the epic drama was wrapped up two years back and was slated for several releases. The movie's release was put on hold due to COVID-19. The film is now expected to be released on Amazon Prime Video.
