Manu Bhaker wins a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. 

Historic! India's bagged its first medal at the Paris Olympics 2024! Manu Bhaker created history by winning bronze medal in the 10m air pistol women's final, becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated Manu on her splendid triumph. Not only this, but several celebrities from India have congratulated the medallist.

Numerous Bollywood actors and celebrities have heaped praises on Manu for clinching the medal. At first, Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty took to X and expressed, “First Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal…and she is just 22! Manu Bhaker, you have made India proud. India’s first medal, the first of many more…. "

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra, who has featured in a plenty of patriotic films like Shershaah, and Yodha, too, took to X (formerly Twitter) and said, “Congratulations, Manu Bhaker. You are a star! What an exceptional start for Team India, onwards and upwards!”

Preity Zinta shared Manu Bhaker’s photo and wrote, “Congratulations @bhakermanu on winning the first medal for India in #olympics2024 #bronzemedal #shooting #parisolympics #JaiHind #ting.”

Kriti Kharbanda also shared the news snippet of Manu Bhaker winning bronze and expressed her happiness with the caption “Oh yeahhhh.”

Rajkummar Rao shared an Insta story and wrote, “Congratulations @bhakermanu. We all are so proud of you.”

Jackie Shroff commented on the success and wrote “Account opened…Manu Bhaker wins Bronze in 10 mt air pistol event. India’s first medal in Paris Olympics.”

More about Paris Olympics 2024

Previously, India's Olympic shooting medals came from the 2012 London Games, where Gagan Narang took home the bronze in the 10m air rifle competition and Vijay Kumar took home the silver in the rapid-fire pistol event. Notably, one of the last Indian shooters to receive such recognition was Gagan Narang, who is currently the chef de mission for the Indian team competing in Paris.
