Manoj Bajpayee had worked in Ram Gopal Varma's cult film 'Satya'
Who can ever forget the powerful performance of Manoj Bajpayee in the the hard hitting film ‘Satya’, which, eventually went onto become one of the cult films of that time. And the man behind the direction of the cult film ‘Satya’ was none other than the maverick film maker Ram Gopal Varma.
In a recent interview with Sucharita Tyagi, Manoj Bajpayee said, “I owe my career to him. We stay in touch. Sometimes, he calls me just to give me ‘gaalis’ (abuses). The reason being I had done this music video ‘Sapne Mein Milti Hai’ out of goodwill gesture. And he called me and said, ‘What have you done, the song's remix is not good’. Then, I told him, ‘Ramu, sometimes you do things for your friends’. He said 'I know, I understand that; but why did you do that?' If I get a call from him it is mostly because he is going to really blast me or criticize me for something. That is the kind of relationship I have with him.”

When asked about the reason behind the success OTT platforms, Manoj Bajpayee said that there is an emergence of a new medium and that, for all the new storytellers who were searching for a medium, (OTT), everyone is welcome. He added that, now, when OTT is settling down, somewhere the OTT platforms are telling that now that we are settled, now, we will tell you (the audiences and the film makers) as to what we want. He also added that, the journey begins from here and the shape that the OTT will take will be known to the people very soon.
On a professional front, Manoj Bajpayee was last seen in Disney+ Hotstar’s much talked about film ‘Gulmohar’. The film starred Sharmila Tagore, Manoj Bajpayee, Simran, Suraj Sharma, Amol Palekar, Kaveri Seth, Utsavi Jha, Danish Sood, Anuraag Arora and others.
