The discussion around the fees of Bollywood stars and their rising entourage demands has been going on for a while now. Filmmakers like Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap have raised concerns over rising star fees affecting movie budgets. Amid this ongoing debate, actor Manoj Bajpayee, whose film Bhaiyya Ji was released on ZEE5 and (OTTplay Premium), has shared his thoughts. Speaking with News18, the actor stated that this debate is itself 'contradictory'.

Manoj Bajpayee on high entourage costs

Manoj Bajpayee spoke to the news portal about the rising star fees and their entourage demands. Revealing why he finds this debate contradictory, Bajpayee said, "Those complaining are often making films with stars because they believe these stars will secure a larger budget for a grand film. A big star comes with their own set of perks, so you can’t expect them to lower their fees or perks to fit your budget."

Talking about himself, Manoj revealed he doesn't travel with a large entourage. The actor added that his team, which has been with him for 25 years, receives the same perks as him. The Bhaiyya Ji actor highlighted that he and his team work within a medium budget. Recalling his Joram shoot, Manoj stated there were no vanity fans or additional facilities available.

Manoj Bajpayee's advice for producers

The Bollywood actor further shared advice for producers who wish to leverage a star's popularity yet adhere to strict budgets. Manoj feels such producers should engage in private negotiations. He thinks that public complaints won't solve the problem.

"Only a private discussion will help you find a compromise. No one has asked me to cut my fees because they’re already reasonable. We complete a film in 35-40 days, and everyone is satisfied," opined Manoj.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Manoj's 100th film, Bhaiyya Ji is streaming on OTT. Stay tuned to his space for more updates from the world of streaming and movies!
