Manoj Bajpayee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui's National Award winning film Chittagong has released on YouTube on the occasion of Diwali. The movie, an Indian historical war drama, can now be streamed on Bandra Film Festival's YouTube page.
Chittagong, directed by Bedabrata Pain, released in 2012. While the movie was available in theatres from October 12, its world premiere was held on October 10. The movie marked Bedabrata's debut and he also received a National Film Award for the same.
Shonali Bose of Margarita with a Straw fame, had co-written the film with Bedabrata. The movie also cast talents like Rajkummar Rao and Jaideep Ahlawat. Alexx O'Nell also appeared in a special appearance in Chittagong.
Apart from the story, what caught people's attention was the music given by the trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Shankar Mahadevan also won the National Film Award for lending his voice to Bolo Na. Similarly, Prasoon Joshi received an award for penning the lyrics of the soulful song.
Chittagong is among one of the most underrated gems in India. The movie was well-received by the critics but the audiences did not respond to it as well and thus, the Box Office collection of the movie was affected owing to that. Nonetheless, Chittagong is recognized by the National Film Awards and critics, thus making it a must-watch.
The movie released in Hindi, English and Bengali in theatres. The version available on Bandra Film Festival's YouTube channel is in Hindi with English subtitles.
