Manoj Bajpayee has announced his reunion with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for his next project. They earlier worked on Satya, Sarkar 3 and more.

Manoj Bajpayee rose to fame with his breakthrough performance in filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma's Satya. In the 1998 film, the actor played gangster Bhiku Mhatre. They later collaborated on movies like School, Road, and Sarkar 3. Seven years after their last project, Manoj has confirmed his reunion with the director for his next project. In a new interview, Bajpayee revealed that he will begin working on the film once the script is ready.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Manoj Bajpayee announced his reunion with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. The actor said he is doing Varma's next project. "As soon as the script is ready and a window opens in my schedule, we’ll do it. It’s not a gangster film, but it will be a vintage Ram Gopal Varma film," revealed Manoj.

When asked about what people can expect from their next, the actor shared, "[A few months ago], Ramu called me saying that he has a story developing in his mind; he hasn’t shared [the details]. Ramu has given me a career, and I always tell him that if he asks me to stand in any frame, I will stand there. He’ll call me after a few days with the storyline."

He further praised the director and values Ram's 'rebellious streak' the most. Manoj mentioned that the filmmaker brings 'unpredictability' to the scenes. The actor loves the fact that Varma is unpredictable. "There is a rebel in him even at this stage, a revolt against all that is conventional. That makes his films far more exciting," he added.

On the work front, Manoj Bajpayee is awaiting the release of his next film, Despatch. Directed by Kanu Behl, the film is an investigative thriller, set to premiere on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. Manoj plays crime journalist Joy Bag in the movie, which will be released on December 13, 2024.
