FEUOK recently announced that there will be no releases from Malayalam after February 22, Thursday. But the Producers’ Association has now issued a statement on the same.
The Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) had recently announced that no Malayalam films would hit theatres after February 22, 2024. The organisation made this decision, alleging that the producers continue to violate the permitted OTT window rules issued by them in the past. FEUOK alleged that several Malayalam film producers violated the regulation that suggests that movies cannot be released on OTT platforms before 42 days of release.
According to the organisation, most producers are still releasing films on OTT 30 days after the theatrical release. Along with these allegations, FEUOK has also asked to reduce the producers’ theatre share revenue to 55 percent. However, the Kerala Film Producers’ Association has now confirmed that the films, which were slated to release on February 22, 2024, will hit theatres as planned. The list includes multi-starrer Manjummel Boys and Nadirshah’s Once Upon A Time In Kochi.
The recent official statement, which was jointly released by the Kerala Film Producers’ Association and the Film Distributors’ Association, confirmed that there are no changes in the release plans of Malayalam films, which have been slated to hit theatres next week. According to the associations, Manjummel Boys, which is slated for release on February 22, Thursday will be released as planned in the theatres that have already signed the contract with the makers.

The Film Producers’ Association has also decided not to cooperate with any theatre owners who choose to violate this contract in the future. The new update from the association came out as a big relief for the Malayalam cinema audiences, who are excited to watch more films on big screens this month. The film fanatics are hoping that the issue will be resolved very soon and that all the upcoming films, including Manjummel Boys, will be released as planned. However, there is no update yet on the release plans of Once Upon A Time In Kochi.
The highly anticipated movie, which is touted to be a suspense thriller, is helmed by Jan.E.Man fame director Chidambaram. Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Deepak Parambol, Ganapathy, Balu Varghese, Lal Jr, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman and others essay the pivotal roles in the movie, which is produced by Babu Shahir, Soubin Shahir, and Shawn Antony, under the banner Parava Films.
