Manju Warrier’s Ayisha is also the first Malayalam movie to get its Arabic version screened in theatres
Manju Warrier’s upcoming movie Ayisha will be blurring boundaries in terms of its content and pushing them with respect to its release. The entertainer, helmed by debutant Aamir Pallikal, will also have an Arabic version.
The team had unveiled the trailer of its Arabic version and now, Aamir confirms to OTTplay that the movie’s Malayalam and Arabic version will release simultaneously in GCC countries on January 20. “It’s the first time that an Arabic version of a Malayalam movie is released in theatres in GCC countries,” says the filmmaker.
Ask him why choose to release the film in Arabic and he explains, “About 80% of the artistes are from Arab countries and the story happens in Saudi Arabia, so we thought why not release it in Arabic as well. So, that version, we have dubbed the Malayalam and other language dialogues into Arabic.”
The movie, which was shot extensively in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE last year, also has Krishna Sankar and Radhika in pivotal roles apart from actors from Tunisia, Morocco, UAE, Egypt and Philippines. Ayisha revolves around the journey of a maid who works in a palace in Saudi Arabia. Sudani from Nigeria filmmaker Zakariya is one among the co-producers of the movie, which is scripted by Ashif Kakkodi.
The film will clash with Mammootty’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and Antony Varghese’s Poovan in theatres in Kerala. Ayisha will also be released in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Manju’ s latest release was Ajith’s Thunivu, which hit theatres a week ago. The actress played an action-oriented role in the H Vinoth heist thriller, which clashed with Vijay’s Varisu.
The actress, meanwhile, has also completed shooting for Mahesh Vettiyar’s satire titled Vellari Pattanam, which is touted to be a comedy entertainer that also has Soubin Shahir in the lead.
