Manikandan's latest movie Lover is expected to make its OTT debut this week.
The latest industry buzz suggests that the Tamil romantic drama Lover is all set to arrive on streaming this week. According to reports, the film will make its OTT debut on March 8 on Disney+Hotstar . However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.
Starring Manikandan in the lead role, Lover was released in cinemas on February 9. It is written and directed by debutant filmmaker Prabhuram Vyas and bankrolled by Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment, the producers of Good Night.

Lover opened in cinemas to positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, the critical acclaim fell short of drawing audiences to cinemas in larger numbers. Even though the movie created significant anticipation before its release, the hype and good word-of-mouth failed to translate into footfalls at the box office.
According to reports, Lover only managed to earn about Rs 8 crore at the Tamil Nadu box office by the end of its third week. The film was anticipated to bring in a breath of fresh air at the box office, which has been struggling for the last few months.
The Tamil Nadu box office has been going through a dull phase since the start of the new year. The Pongal releases, Captain Miller and Ayalaan, failed to reenergize the theatres in Tamil Nadu, which has hit a rough patch since last December.
Surprisingly, the latest Malayalam film Manjummel Boys has given a much-needed break to the stakeholders at the box office. Even though 'Lover' has not performed well at the box office, it's reportedly not considered a loss for the producers owing to its moderate budget. The positive reviews might have also helped the movie secure a lucrative streaming deal, boosting its non-theatrical revenue.
Lover is praised for its realistic portrayal of challenges faced by young people on professional, personal and societal fronts.
