Mangalavaaram on OTT - Here's how much the digital rights of the Payal Rajput starrer were sold for

Mangalavaaram is director Ajay Bhupathi's latest release. Featuring Payal Rajput in a lead role, Disney+ Hotstar has bagged the OTT rights to the film.

Managalavaaram was released on November 17, 2023, and earned decent reviews. But as the Cricket World Cup tournament was at its peak, the collections were just about okay. We at OTTplay have already reported that Disney+ Hotstar has bagged the OTT rights to the film.

Well, the news is that the digital rights have been sold for Rs 9 crore, as per reports. This is a big number considering the star cast and budget of the film. The village drama was directed by Ajay Bhupathi of RX 100 and Maha Smaudram fame.

Initially, Aha was supposed to grab the rights and the deal was almost locked. But at the last minute, Hotstar came into the picture and closed the deal. Mangalavaram is about mysterious happenings in a small village and is connected to Payal Rajput's character. Her bold performance has been widely appreciated by critics and audiences alike.

The entire film is shot in a small village and most of the drama takes place at night and that too on Tuesdays. Seasoned actors like Ajay Ghosh and Krishna Chaitanya played key roles in this film, which had music by Kantara's composer, B Ajaneesh Loknath.

Ajay Bhupathi is quite happy that a bold subject like Mangalavaram has been received in a warm manner by audiences. Priyadarshi has a special role in this film and his character was kept as a suspense for audience; it was unveiled only at the end of the film.
