Manav Gohil: After the pandemic, I realised that television is here to stay

The popular face of TV Manav Gohil is back on TV with Main Hoon Aparajita. After many years, the actor has paired up with Shweta Tiwari, who is a regular face on television. Manav left television at the peak of his career for film projects. However, he came back on TV after a sabbatical.

In Main Hoon Aparajita, Manav is playing the character of Akshay. He came back into the life of Aparajita, played by Shweta. Akshay is arrogant. In an interview with Anandabazar Patrika, he said that his character is multilayers. Talking about television shows these days, the actor said, “A change is happening in all the spheres of life. Television content is also changing. The subject that used to be depicted 20 years ago has changed. Society has changed and the audience has evolved. The way women used to be treated after getting married has changed and that gets reflected in serial scripts. During the time of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, TRP used to go up to 13-14. These days, even 4 is a huge score. However, after the pandemic, I realised that television is here to stay and it will become stronger.”

The pandemic has also taught Manav the importance of family and friends. He also talked about how it is important to instil values in children. “There has been an advancement in technology. We have to introduce our children to technology. We cannot control them everywhere. We will have to instil the right values in them. And they will be able to progress on the right path in life,” said the actor.

Manav was scheduled to work in a film and that did not materialise. Hence, he has focused on television. In the interview, he also suggested that he has been reading OTT scripts. But he confirmed that he will get into a contract only when he is convinced with the script.
