Producer Anto Joseph took to his social media page to announce the official box office figures while hailing the movie
Mamootty’s Rorschach is on its way to become the third superhit this year for the megastar. What makes it even sweeter for the star is that he has also produced the Nisam Basheer directorial under his banner Mammootty Kampany.
Producer Anto Joseph, who has backed the most number of movies starring Mammootty, took to his social media page to announce the Kerala box office collection of the film, which released in theatres on October 7.
“In the past three days, Rorschach earned Rs 9.75 crore gross collection in Kerala theatres alone,” said the producer. The film had a worldwide release and overseas figures are yet to be officially announced. Anto also praised Mammootty for his courage and foresight to produce such a film that “presented a novel experience to the audience”.
Anto started his post by pointing out the traffic rush in Ernakulam’s MG Road where three major theatres and a multiplex are located. The producer said that the connection between the traffic block and Malayalam cinema is Rorschach, which is apparently playing in all the screens and has seen in an increase in footfall in the past three days.
The producer said Rorschach’s success is also proof that good movies can attract people back to theatres, like in the heydays before the pandemic. Rorschach, which is a psychological revenge thriller, opened to largely positive reviews with critics as well as the audience lauding its making and performances.
The film, which has Mammootty playing the protagonist named Luke Antony, also has Bindu Panicker, Kottayam Nazir, Sharafudheen, Grace Antony, Sanju Sivram and Jagadeesh in pivotal roles. Scripted by Samir Abdul of Adventures of Omanakuttan fame, the film is the second production under Mammootty Kampany and its first theatrical release.
Meanwhile, Mammootty’s next release will be either the Telugu film Agent, which has Akhil Akkineni in the lead, or B Unnikrishnan’s Christopher, which has him playing the role of a vigilante cop.
