Mammootty's Kannur Squad OTT release expected on this date

Malayalam superstar Mammootty's latest movie Kannur Squad is set to end its theatrical note on a glorious note as the date for its digital premiere draws closer.

Malayalam superstar Mammootty is basking in the success of his latest movie Kannur Squad. The movie marked the directorial debut of Roby Varghese Raj, who is one of the leading cinematographers in Malayalam cinema.

Kannur Squad is successfully running in cinemas with glowing reviews and breaking several box office records. And it is set to end its theatrical note on a glorious note as the date for its digital premiere draws closer.

Based on the industry standards, Kannur Squad is expected to arrive on the streaming platform after completing a four-week exclusive theatrical run. So it's safe to assume that the movie will make its OTT debut on or after October 28.

Earlier, speculations were rife that SonyLIV had bagged the streaming rights of the movie. However, industry sources have confirmed that the platform doesn't own the movie's streaming rights.

It seems the producers of Kannur Squad didn't finalise its streaming partner before releasing it in cinemas. As per some credible inputs from the people in the know, Disney+Hotstar is said to be the movie's official streaming partner. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.

If that's true, then Kannur Squad will become available for streaming by the end of October.

Mammootty is on a roll

With Kannur Squad, Mammootty continued his winning streak. He is not only scoring back-to-back box office hits, but he's also garnering a lot of critical praise. Delivering a movie that could satisfy mass audiences and critics is an art in itself. And Mammootty seems to be perfecting this art with each movie.

Kannur Squad became one of the 10 biggest Malayalam hits globally by raking in more than Rs 75 crore in ticket sales. Within three weeks, the movie outearned previous Malayalam blockbusters including Nivin Pauly's Premam and Mohanlal's Drishyam.

Besides Mammootty, Kannur Squad also stars Rony David Raj, Shabareesh Varma, Azees Nedumangad, Vijayaraghavan and Kishore.
